FAQ's

Can I use the six credits of WL credit towards an Academic Honors diploma?

~No.  Credits are granted to already proficient students in lieu of coursework in order to certify them for the CoMP.  They are not sufficient for earning an AHD.

I am an exchange student.  Can I still get the certificate?

~No.  You will not be able to meet all the requirements unless you are a student in the US for more than one year/semester.

Can I retake the language test if I don’t qualify?

~It depends.  If you are enrolled in a language class the year following your test, definitely.  That will give you extra practice with all four language skills, and consequently giving you a good chance at passing the test if you retake it.   If you are a heritage or native speaker, please speak to the CoMP coordinator to discuss your plan for improving your skills to attempt a retake.

If I don’t qualify in one skill area, do I have to retake the entire test or just the sections I didn’t pass?

~You only have to take the sections you didn’t pass.

How long do I have to wait until I can retake the test, assuming I have practiced/improved my language skills?

~You must wait at least 90 days before you can apply to retake the test.

Do I have to wait until I’m a senior to take the test?

~Unless you are enrolled in a World Language class at NAHS, we recommend that you take the test the spring of your senior year.
